t’s funny that recycling goes back a long way, as far as 400 BC when Plato was around. They used to recycle broken pottery and household waste. So here we are on the island of Kos in the year 2013 and we have managed as a society to dump our wastes directly into our nature.
A lawsuit by Vangelis Trakosas against the Municipal Community of Asfendiou and in particular Michael Georgalis has been brought to court today.
Vangelis Trakosas represents the Ecological Union in Kos. In a statement Mr Trakosas accuses Mr Georgalis of violating an area that should be protected (The Salt Lake -Wetlands).
The “Keep Kos Clean” team, (which also exists on facebook) with the active participation of foreign language members from almost all villages, had a meeting today at the City Hall

The evolution of the program STARTER
The Municipality of Kos consistent in target it has set for the transfer and upgrading of expertise in tourism and sustainable development, actively participates in another co-funded project entitled STARTER: «Sustainable transport in tourist areas by reducing energy consumption.”
An initiative to preserve the Alikes (The Salt Lake) is taking place on Thursday 27th of September and being held in the Kaza Cafe Bar opposite Dodecanese Bank at 16.30 by The Friends of The Environment Group.
We have no illusions that it will change things with our voices.
But as citizens, we all have a duty where we see political tampering, immorality, degradation and political or administrative inertia to resist!
