A question for those running the Tourism/ Culture programme on the Island of Kos.
As a local travel agent on the Island of Kos,
‘ Kathryn ’ Kos Travel & Event Management.
I am constantly searching for things to attract tourism on the Island. I spend most of my time sourcing ideas to improve the depleting tourist industry.
This year, despite several phone calls to the council, to be precise the ‘ Pneumatico Kentro ’ imagine my surprise when I was told there was no official programme of events and activities yet for this year.
OK, I accept this, what I cannot accept, is that tourists came into my office for more information regarding a concert to be held in the village.
Once again I phoned the ‘authorities’ to be told, definitely no event taking place in Mastihari tonight.
I am now in the embarrassing position of seeing a concert in the harbor of Mastihari !!!
My concerns are:
- A golden opportunity has been missed to advertise this event, which is vital in helping the struggling local village businesses.
- A ‘free’ gift to the visiting tourists, and an ideal opportunity to introduce our village to the visitors staying in ‘all inclusive’ hotels in the surrounding areas.
- An opportunity for other resorts to ‘sell’ an evening in Mastihari.
- Support for the individuals who created this event.
I strongly believe that in this time of need we should all be pulling together,.exchanging events and activites between our villages, thus creating a positive friendly atmosphere for our guests.
This is our only marketing………..??????
