Italian Mayors send a message to Greece
From local news……
We have read on the internet that 2 Italian Mayors have requested that their wages go straight to the Greek Government to help our bankrupt country. This refers to Mr Galdi, professor of law and Mayor of city Cava de Rineri, a city of 60,000 residents and Mr Mokatelio, Mayor of the small town of Baronisi. Both towns are said to be in the area of Salerno, of which Kos is twinned (not relevant to the Mayors’ decisions however)
The actions of the Mayors are mainly symbolic, as we do not know if the Greek Bureaucrats accept the donations. It is, however, an action that is designed to soothe our pain as a country, and it shows that some are Greek sympathizers and that they are thinking of us.
We wonder how many of our own Mayors, Vice Mayors, Presidents etc etc will follow the example of the 2 Italian Mayors?
A suggestion to The Dimos Kos – is to invite them, look after them, board them and thank them with honours.
We hope initiatives brought about by this.
