KOS TOURISM ORGANISATION

Tourism Exhibitions in Prague and Istanbul were attended by Kos Tourism Organisation.

On the 9th-12th of February saw two  important, simultaneously organised international tourism fairs, in both Prague and Istanbul . They were both attended by the Single Entity Tourism Organisation of Kos and Nissyros. The President of the organisation and the Deputy Mayor of tourism, Mr Balalis, met with the Mayor of Bodrum, the President of the chamber and TURSAB Bodrum members at a scheduled event at the EMITT exhibition centre in Istanbul.

 In a meeting with the Turkish Minister for Tourism, at the same exhibition, he was presented with a commemorative plaque and encouraged to support the recent cooperation initiatives put in place regarding the Kos-Bodrum area.

Then Mr. Balalis, accompanied by the President of the Hoteliers Assn, Mr Hatzimichael, went to Prague where they carried out a series of meetings with the Governor and executives of ESO (Czech Tourism Organisation) in which they organised several educational and introductory trips to Kos for journalists and tour operators in the Czech market; a market that has Kos in this year’s top preferences for travel!

Unfortunately, it is more than obvious that the economic situation in Europe is causing caution and apprehension with respect to the purchasing of package holidays this year. Moreover, the general Greek situation is creating negative feeling in European markets, which in turn is having a negative impact on the efforts to attract tourists from these markets.
