Lives lost at sea in Lesbos
Making headlines over the weekend was the terrible tragedy concerning the death of passengers on a boat near the island of Lesbos in Greece.
As Coast Guards continued their search for survivors in weather conditions that were appalling it was reported the boat that had capsized was holding at least 18 people. Most it seemed had lost their life to the sea and bodies were found washed up on nearby shores. There were men, women and children on the boat all heading for what they had hoped would be a better life.
One survivor was taken to the hospital suffering from severe hypothermia. The boat was full to it’s capacity with illegal immigrants that had come from the Turkish region. It is said that the bad weather as well as the overload of the boat was the likely cause that it sank.
