World Travel Market London 2011…. Over and out! – Updated

Our time at the World Travel Market in London has finally come to an end, after many train journey’s, much walking and of course not to forget…… Our favorite past time talking.

The last 2 days were open to the general public, we met many wonderful people, made great contacts and wondered around the world talking to many people from different countries. Some of the stands were amazing, there were people playing traditional instruments, making wonderful things such as cuban cigars, wooden pictures, braclets, painting pictures and hands (with traditional henna) and giving away the most unusual things such as desk gardens…. You could even get your picture taken with a beautiful bird of prey.

Of course the most important part of it, was the publicity Greece and Kos got from the exhibition…. Greece were one of the sponsors of the World Travel Market London 2011 and their presence was seen all around the hall and in the press rooms.

The team on the Kos stand worked hard to speak to as many people as possible about what Kos had to offer and handed out information to as many people as they could. We also spoke with many students from all over the world who are studying travel and tourism offering help with anything they need to know with regard to Greece, Kos and working and living abroad.

To have a presence at these exhibitions is becoming even more important, these events are growing in size each year with many destinations from all over the world promoting what they have to offer. It is also vital to ensure that we speak to independent travel agents and industry professionals about the wonderful things that Kos has to offer to ensure they can give the right impression to people wanting to travel to Greece and especially Kos.

Whilst at the exhibition we had the opportunity to speak with the Vice Mayor Yiannis Balalis and ask him a few of your questions, we will be writing about the interview once we return to Kos next week…. So keep watching.

I hope you have enjoyed finding out what goes on at the World Travel Market, I know Vasilis, the Kos team and I have enjoyed having the opportunity to let people know how wonderful our little island of Kos is. We have also made many contacts and learnt many things which will hopefully help us promote Kos island even better!
