Mr Rapanos the President of The National Bank of Greece has declined the post of Finance Minister due to health issues it is reported. He was due to be sworn in having been appointed to this position in the recently formed coalition government by Prime Minister Mr Samaras.

The media have made an issue that Rapanos has “health problems”, that are on going.

Mr Rapanos has endured serious stomach problems recently and was admitted to hospital on Friday.

His letter clearly stated he was unable to take on this position.
