Submission Guidelines

Kos-Explorer.com Newswire welcomes article submissions. If you have an article you think would be well suited for publication at KEN, please send it in an e-mail with the subject heading “Submission” to:

Vasileios Pasparas
editor@kos-explorer.com

The submission guidelines are just that  guidelines. Submissions that adhere to the guidelines, however, will likely be given more consideration and have a greater chance of getting published.

Content

Kos-Explorer.com Newswire seeks news and fact-based analysis and opinion outside of the confines of partisan politics. A good rant is okay once in a while, and may be considered, but fully fleshed out views or arguments that are well supported will have a much better chance of being featured. If you source information used in your article, you may use embedded links like this or footnotes; either is fine. (Footnotes are recommended for more scholarly pieces. Use square brackets [1]. If you’re using Word, don’t worry about it if you use the footnotes feature, it’s automatically transformed to brackets when pasting to HTML).

Please fact check your work. Particularly if your article is about something controversial, it’s best to provide sources to support your assertions.

By all means, please include images with your work. Just be sure, if you do, that either you are the copyright owner, you have permission from the copyright owner, or the image is in the public domain. Please include photo credit information (e.g. “Ansel Adams/AFP-Getty Images”) and send image files as separate attachments in your email.

Format

Please attach articles as a Word document. Single-space and do not indent. Do not create an empty line between paragraphs (rather than hitting “Enter” twice to create a space between paragraphs, just adjust the spacing in the paragraph options).

Submitted articles should be final drafts. Please take care to proofread your own work before submitting it (or have someone proofread it for you).

If the editor decides your article requires any kind of significant revision before publication, you will be notified and given the opportunity to approve of any such changes. Such revisions may include corrections of factual statements, revisions for grammar and readability, and changing the title to something likelier to draw more readers attention or improve search engine optimization. Any proposed revisions are intended only to improve the quality of each article.

Minor editorial revisions may be made without notification. This may include corrections of grammar or format. Titles may also be revised. If you don’t want your title to be revised, please include a title that identifies the topic for readers scanning headlines.

Please also see copyright information below for further information.

Bio and Description

Please include a short bio with your submission to let readers know a little bit about you, just something brief to let people know who you are. Regular contributors may be featured on the Writers page, in which case your photograph may also appear alongside your bio. If you contribute regularly and would like to be included, don’t hesitate to send an e-mail to the Chief Editor with the request. The more the merrier.

Also please include a brief article description. Sometimes, a subtitle will suffice as the description. Other times, a sentence or two or a paragraph from the text itself serves as a useful description. If not, please just write a sentence or two explaining briefly what the article is about.

Copyright

Kos-Explorer.com Newswire is not currently able to offer compensation for submissions and authors thus retain full copyright ownership of their work. The act of submitting an article constitutes the express permission for Kos-Explorer.com Newswire to publish that work. Please notify the editor if your work has been published previously and, if so, whether you would require or desire attribution to the original publication. If you are submitting an exclusive to Kos-Explorer.com Newswire, please be sure to mention that this is the case so that can be taken into consideration by the editor.

Kos-Explorer.com Newswire will retain copyright over articles submitted as exclusives. If an article requires significant editing, Kos-Explorer.com Newswire may also retain copyright, at out option. The reason for this is that we are not a free editorial service. It wouldn’t due to have a KEN editor expend time and energy improving a written piece only to have that final product published elsewhere. In such cases, authors are welcome to submit the final work elsewhere, but the published piece must include attribution to KEN and/or a link to the original at KEN.
